This is "Katy" and Shirley: ADOPTED! Katy is an 8 year old spayed female rescued today from the Boulder Valley Humane Society. Her owner died and the family dropped her off at the Humane Society. I had a 24 hour window in which to pick her up. They determined that she was not adoptable partly because of her age and she failed their compatibility test with a male dog. Their test goes something like this; Katy on a leash and the male dog left loose to approach and sniff at will. Not exactly a test to determine temperament if the leashed dog feels threatened or intimidated. |

Katy shows no aggression toward humans; she does show nervousness (shakes) at thunder and other loud noises. She is current on shots, 3 year rabies of 8-11-04 and she is micro-chipped. She will need to be heartworm tested and as far as we know there are no known medical problems. |

She is being fostered by Shirley Martin who has an 8 year old female English (bench) named Ginger. There have been no problems with the two dogs getting along. |

Katy is mostly field setter with some bench influence, a Blue Belton. She is leash-trained with some obedience and housebroken. She was an inside dog and apparently lived with an elderly man and she was leash walked. She's good with children over 6 years of age. Katy may be a fence jumper (we don’t know) so we would caution a watchful eye to determine if a high fence would be needed. The Orange Belton in the one picture is Shirley's girl Ginger, a rescue that Shirley adopted. |
